No acceleration after coming to stop

So I recently bought a 2001 Toyota 4runner Limited 4x4 with ABS. After driving for a little bit, I will come to a stop and hear the master cylinder kick on, and then once I start to go the truck has a very very slow acceleration to the point where Iam crawling, the RPM's register at around 1000 or a little higher, this is all while Iam holding down the gas pedal, after about 100ft or so it automatically comes right back to life. Now this does not happen all the time, only maybe once or twice a day. I would appreciate the help

I don't think you can hear the master cylinder kick on. its always on and there is no off switch.

it sound like you may be facing a throttle position sensor issue. you may want to clean you MAF, throttle body and perhaps replace the sensor if that does not help. If i were guessing for a place to start, that is where i wold go.

You too?

I'm not sure if you figured out your problem, but I had this VERY issue with my '99 Limited and it had me stumped for months. I checked out everything from the intake/MAF - to possible coil/plug issues - to every emission sensor on the truck. I replaced a lot of unnecessary parts in my quest, but the symptom got worse.

As a last resort, I pulled off my front cat and found that it was completely clogged! I don't know why I didn't start there - I owned the 4Runner since new and it had roughly 120K on the cats. Now I would not recommend this part to anyone, as I was really low on cash at the time, but I decided to grab a long 1" wood drill-bit and make a few holes from end to end. I drilled 3 holes and re-assembled the exhaust. And within 20 minutes of driving, the ECU cycled enough to kill my CEL and I had all my power back (plus some).

I never did replace the cat and I drove it another 20K miles before selling it on Craigslist. I informed the new owner of my shoddy achievement and he could care less, because it was still running like a champ at 142K miles.

Just a thought...
