No check engine light

So I've had my 99 4runner for a few months ... and last night I realized when I turn the key over the check engine light was not popping up..

I work at a tire shop and my tech hooked his reader up to it and it says its running lean... so my guess is its a 02 sensor. But the ****y part, my check engine light should be on ...

I'm boarder lined pissed........

Now I have to see what someone has done to make it not turn on, I'm guessing someone has broken the light off.

Anyone had this issue?

yep. I just realized this to over the last few weeks. The worst part for me, my family has owned my runner since 99. So, at some point more then 10 years ago someone pulled the whole socket for the check engine light off of my gauge cluster circuit board.

To fix it i bought a number 74 sylvania halogen bulb and swapped the socket over from my seatbelt light, put in a new bulb since i had already bought them, plugged it in and put it all back together. It's not to difficult of a job. I would say it took about half an hour, and that was the first time i've had to take the cluster out.

Be very careful with your cluster though, I have the mechanical tripometer and now one of the wheels is sticking on it.
