No headlights or cluster lights...plz help!!

Hello, I recently purchaced a 1990 4runner. I'm having a problem with the headlights and cluster lights. When I turn the headlight swith to the first notch, I have headlights but no tail lights or cluster lights. When I turn the headlight switch to the second notch (full on) I have no headlights, tail lights or cluster lights. I have switched out the headlight relay under the hood and it didn't help. I hooked up another switch assembly from an autowrecker yard and had the exact same results. I have checked the fuses on the driver's side kick panel and under the hood and they are all fine. Any ideas on what the problem might be or what else I can check? Thanks in advance!:girl:

sounds like you have a ground problem some where need to ck all your wires in your headlights and taillights makes sure all grounds are good !!!!!!

That is my exact same problem. I also switched out the relay to no avail. I tried pluggin another headlight/turnsignal/wipper assembly in and the results were the same, so the switches are not faulty. I'm starting to think it is a bad ground. I'm just not sure which wires to check?

Okay, so I'm having the exact same issues as lehua011. Headlights only work on first click of the headlight switch, tailights don't come on (brake lights work), gauge cluster does not light up, hazards don't work, rear defrost doesnt work, and now my turn signals just stopped working. All of these functions must be tied to the same ground...any idea which ground it is? As stated before, the headlight relay is good, all fuses are good, headlight, windshield wiper switch cluster is good. Please help me before I get pulled over!! I'm using bike signals out my window when I have to turn or lane change and I'm stuck at home at night because of the headlight situation:crybaby:

Problems like yours are typical of a bad combination switch (what Toyota calls it).
