no jack in 4runner

the 4runner i got doesnt have an owners manual or a jack. i was looking on ebay for a jack in case a tire blows out and i am not sure what i need exactly. what i have is below in the camera phone pic - just one long L shaped kind of tool. do i just need a bottle jack piece? i have also never had to change a tire (knock on wood) so i dont know what is necessary. thanks in advance

Besides the crank (which lowers the spare--you do have a spare?-- when inserted into the appropriate hole), you also need the extension which goes from the crank to the bottle jack, a lug wrench, and the bottle jack itself (which goes into the bracket at the top of the picture). The first two came in a black vinyl tool kit that is tied down with that rubber band thingy. I found the stock lug wrench to be pretty lame--I keep a cross style wrench and a cheater bar under there. Did you check the storage compartment in the back on the right?--something may have moved.

Here is what you need. If you want this stuff I will sell it. It is totally useless for my truck now. There is a fold up 4 way pictured that isn't factory. All the factory jack parts are there.

Hi, I have the same problem. Bought my 99' Limited 4runner and found out later that the jack is missing...I have the extension, nut wrench and the jack handle bar. Just missing the jack itself. If anybody has one available, I will gladly buy it off you. Thanks. Email is [email protected]

if you have all that....i think i'd rather just go to autozone or someplace and buy a decent bottle jack or a floor jack. can use em just about anywhere....and you can always help out someone else....unless of course you want it to fit in its own lil space.

A really long 3/8" extension and a T-bar would work fine. Or here:

Isn't that where they're supposed to be? I always thought the compartments on either side in the back were for random spare parts or your underaged booze stash...lol

I went out and looked around and found 2 bottle jacks in my 4runner. I guess the previous owner didn't know to look under the seat either.

Sort of off topic question here. Can I use both bottle jacks to jack up one side so I can pull 2 wheels off if I want to plasti-dip my rims?

I used a floor jack and a bottle jack to remove 2 at a time when I painted mine. I also threw my spare tire under the front and rear axle depending on which end I was working on to be on the safe side though. That way the 4runner would land on the tire first and hopefully save me some headache. Just be careful as that could be kinda easy to topple over using most any set of jacks like that.
