no key- new ignition

Well I recieved a free 1992 SR5 4 runner. The previouse owner had lost the key, although I can easily get into the truck how hard is it to get a new ignition cylinder/ tumbler and replace it? THe previouse owner attempted but chewed up the key slot pretty bad.
Any Ideas?

Does it actually need a new lock cylinder or just the key? If its the key go to a local dealer with your title to it and they can look up the VIN and cut a new key for you. If it needs the lock cylinder they aren't that hard to find. Check your local scrap yards or if that doesn't work you can get a used one for about $37 (thats what I paid a couple months ago) at Spalding Auto Parts - Home of Quality New and Used Parts. It will come with a matching key. They are in Spokane, WA and have a good selection of 4runner parts. I use them quite a bit. Decent prices, fast shipping.
