No keyss!!! Newbe in distress! Ha

OK Wells heres the deal i lost all the keys for my 2000 4runner limited and unfortunately for me my car has the transponder security system, so i have no keys or remotes to unlock the doors...( well i went to the dealer they made me a key from the vin but it didnt even have a transponder in it.pointless just helps me get it towed around haha :gun5 .....and i know you cant get them made at any old locksmith or i have to go the Stealership then they swap the ecu and make new keys for like $300 or something. I was wondering do i have any other options, ive talk to locksmiths who "say" they can reflash the ecu and make the keys, but i dont know if can trust them:dammit:. So basically i was just wonder what you guys think????????:hatsoff:

Just go to the dealership and pay the $300, it's not worth having someone screw up your ECU, causing even more problems...

I went through the same thing, when I bought the car they only had the Valet key, $300 and a few hours later the dealer Re-Flashed the ECU and I now have three sets of keys...

call toyota they usually make a one time goodwill warrenty for a ecu but you will have to buy the keys

Also he doesn't need a new ECU, he just needs a new ignition code programmed in...

Yeah, all the stealer needs to go is get you a fob and have that prgrammed to the ignition. It might be expensive but no where near $300.

first off that sucks to hear dude, secondly how did you lose all your keys?
definitely agree with everyone else to just settle it with your local stealership and have it replaced.
