no lift kits for 2wd?

Two weeks ago I attended the 4Wheel Parts Truckfest in the San Diego Convention center. It was awesome seeing trucks with insane suspension and nice wheel and tire combination. It was disappointing to find out that there were only like one toyota truck, the rest were domestic. Anyways...I grabbed like EVERY lift kit catalog there. I was disappointed to find there were no lift kits made for a 99 2wd 4runner. My question is....

Is it bad for 2wd trucks/suvs to have a lift? I'm sure this subject has been touched upon too. I know revtek makes a lift for a 2wd 99 4runner. Other than that, i haven't seen anything else. Thanks.

i dont know too much about it, but a lot of people switch out their 2wd springs for 4wd springs...

you could also go with performance products lift springs too...

2wd/4wd are the same for suspension stuff.

pick any lift kit that's 3rd gen and you're set.

That’s a lot of lift. Being it’s 2wd what is your goal? Looks? Future light off-road? 4wd springs and shocks interchange with 2wd. It can obviously get more complex the more lift you go.

The frames of 2wd and 4wd are identical and the suspension is almost identical. You can use any lift kit on your 2wd.

Rough Country has a 3 inch kit for under $300 bucks. 3 inches is higher than you realize. You would need some pretty big tires in order for a 6 inch lift not to look ridiculous. Not to mention the problems you'll face fitting those large tires under there.

Lifting a 2wd 4runner is basically the same as a 4x4. 2 things to keep in mind though. You have a slip yoke on the transmission, too much lift may pull it out too far and cause vibrations or even potentially damage. Also the gearing in the differentials of some 2wd models is very high to compensate for the smaller tires they came with stock (3.73 and 3.90 were both options.) so larger tires will impact acceleration and performance more than the equivalent 4x4 model.
