no luck with the search on DAC

im pretty new to this board...long time reader, short time poster and have done a search on the DAC and how it functions...my situation is this:
like many of u...one time while driving i accidentally hit the DAC button while in hi 2 mode (multi-mode 4x4 v6 sport ed) and like many of u know DAC will only work in lo4 so no problem if i accidnetally hit it...the tricky part is the light when on...but last night when i actaully tried to test out the DAC and put it in low4 with the gear in 1st (L) down a hill, even after pressing the DAC button the light doesnt flash anymore...i ASSUME everything's okay because everytime i start my engine the DAC and all the other lights come on and shut off...my stealership says that the ECU is doing a check to make sure everything is working fine...my question is...once im in 4low and in the L gear...does the DAC light come on right when i hit the button or when im actually "using it"..at the point if decension?..i know it is supposed to flash green..but does it ever steady green?
i dont wanna have to go through the hassle of gettin it checked out with an appointment and all if its not serious..not like i actually use DAC in the city..its just one of those things that bug ya when it comes to your baby:

Check the owner's manual -- I think you have to be in 4-LO and in neutral to turn on DAC. But it is in the owners manual (I'm out of town so I don't have the manual here to give you a page number).

It flashes green when the button is pushed but it's not engaged. It's a solid green when it is engaged.

i took your suggestion bro and the DAC light doesnt even come on when i put it in lo4 and in neutral (btw ive checked the manual MANY times for answers)...something's wrong...i think i have to bring it to the stealership unfortunately....its just weird that when i start my truck up and the ECU is doing a quick check to make sure everything is working properly all the lights go OFF meaning everything's okay...but when i press the buttom...no flashing no nuthin...shitty deal

If it doesn't do what the manual says, then you should take to the dealer as a warranty repair.

Can't recall how the light acts but it should be easy to test. Stop on an isolated hill and put it low - probably 2nd gear for the test - hit the DAC button (don't have to be in neutral) and try to coast to 4 mph or more. If there's a gawdawful racket and then the 4Runner stays below 4 mph, it's working.

thanks guys for the input..as of right now..i think a trip to the stealership may solve some confusion for myself...i do believe it should be under the warranty...not like i hampered with anything electronically
