ok I replaced my timing cover gaskets, resealed my oil pan, replaced main seal and oil pump o ring, still have a leak only when driving not at ide just when I am driving, but even worse I went out to start it this morning and it was really noisy then it started banging so I shut it off, and pulled the valve cover I had forgotten to torque the bolt holding the dist. gear and my top timing chain sprocket was loose almost hanging on so I checked everything over and their did not seem to be any damage, so I alighned all my timing marks put it back together and torqued it to spec, it started fine and actually the motor was more quite than it has ever been but I did notice a metallic sound from my exhaust, it just sounds different from before, and now I have no power when I let out the clutch to go, it slowly picks up but definetly something is not right, could my timing be off? it also idles rough. please help

My guess, your timing is off. Double check your mechanical and ignition timing. Post pics if you're in doubt.

mechanical and ignition timing

what is the diff, could you give me a brief explanation, I made sure my harmonic balancer pulley groove is lined up with the zero mark on timing cover or close to it, my dimple in top timing chain sprocket is lined 12 oclock and my rotor in the dist. cap is at around 10 o clock, I am going to get a timing light today, and will see what that says, is it bad that I pulled the dist out and turned the rotor manually to get it at ten o clock? the truck has no power at all I can move it around but it really struggles.

What you have done here is check the mechanical portion. Once you get the timing light on it and set, that will be the ignition timing portion. Good luck!

When you're doing this, you need to make sure that the crank is at 0* exactly. Not close, not almost there but it's important that it's right on at 0*. Also, the dimple on the cam sprocket needs to be at the 1115-1130 position when the timing chain is installed. Also be sure that when doing your mechanical timing that your #1 piston is at TDC, if not then your timing will be off by 180*.

Then for your ignition timing, some people can get away with using the good ol' ear to do their ignition timing but it's best to use a timing light. Also make sure you're jumping the te1 to e1 in the service plugs under the hood while you're doing your ignition timing.

Hope this helps.

where is the data link connector

ok I saw that you need to put a jumper wire on the data link connecter but I cannot find it on my 95 4runner, is it inside by fuses or in the engine compartment, definetly not labled:boom:

Its in the engine bay, passenger side just aft of the battery, inboard of the main fuse box.
