No power to A/C compressor?

On my 86 Truck 4x4 2.4 EFI 5speed the compressor on the A/C won't kick in unless jumping the prongs on the a/c amp board.Changed the board with the part number that was in there 077100-0160 and still the same problem. This a/c system was added to the truck and perhaps different parts were used from different years? It gets power from the a/c button to the amp board but not out the other side to the compressor.Any ideas if other amp boards fit and can this whole thing be bypassed with a toggle switch?

How much freon do you have in your AC system? Did you have it serviced to the correct weight of gas? Your AC system should have a pressure switch in it telling the compressor to cycle faster or slower. No/low gas = no compressor cycle = no power to the compressor. First thing make sure you have the right amount of R134a and no leaks.
