No startup

Hello all
I own a 99 4Runner 4cyl. Just recently the truck just died out at stop light and now doesn't want to start. Towed the truck home safely, but no startup. Any tips on what to check first?

Make sure there is gas in it to begin with. Could have a faulty gas gauge. Its happened to a few of us. Then move on from there.
