Noise behind Dash

I have a 2006 Sport which has developed an annoying buzzing noise which seems to come from somewhere behind or in vicinity of glove box. It is a vibration of some sort that increases with engine RPM but IS NOT an ignition noise. It is not loud but is driving me nuts. It has been to the dealer twice. First time they put a dampener in the blower motor which was obviously not the problem as it is still there. It will occur every day for two weeks EXCEPT for the day that I have the appointment with the dealer. Second visit this week,. it stopped on the way over there and resumed as I left the dealership. They, of course, were unable to reproduce the noise. Anyone else encounter a similar problem?

"noises" are very difficult..your best bet would be to get in to where the "noise" is coming from, and see if there is something loose (or hitting close to something), everything from a loose screw, to a wire-harness can cause noise..

Man, I've been having the same exact noise for the past 6 months. I think somehow I just learned how to tune it out because I forgot about it untill I saw your post lol. I know a brand new car shouldn't come with buzzing noises behind the dash, but hey your gonna spend more time trying to find the source than you think, because I sure as hell couldnt find it. Easy fix... just crank up the radio.

Ah, the beauty of the internet. When the dealer says, "You're the only one with this problem." you can say, "No, I'm not". If I could figure out how to get the dash aloose, I'd have mre dedication then they do to fix it. If they say they can't find it, I'm just going to tell them to spray everything that touches something else with silicone spray. If they do find it, I'll report back.

see if you can have them pay an audio shop to do it...

car-audio places have to deal with stuff like that when they put systems in cars sometimes..stuff rattles ALOT more once theres subwoofers in the car..

I'd make sure nothing in the glovebox is rattling.

Also, remove and check the cabin air filter behind the glovebox. The system might have sucked in a leaf, and it might be caught in the filter and vibrating. Or, the filter itself could be loose. The process of removing it is described in section 1-9 of the Owner's Manual.

I also had a annoying buzzing noise that I thought was coming from the dash area or under the hood. It turned out to be the vanity mirror visor on the passenger side. You could take it to the dealership or disassemble the vanity mirror and tape the vanity light wires down to keep it from buzzing. I didn't even bother taking it to the dealership because they have a tendency to play dumb/deaf and fixed it myself.
