Back in the day...I've seen people press on the dash where the sound is coming from...probably the plastic dash vibrating on the windshield...once you find out the source, stick a folded matchbook there out of site to bind it up. Ghetto I know, but it works!

I had a noise that sounded like it was coming from the dash, but it was from the windshield. Toyota had left behind one of the clips that is used to position the windshield while the truck is being built.

I have what sounds like squeeking plastic from the steering column area going over bumps or washboards. Not sure if this is the same thing.

With my 4Runner, i narrowed it down to it was my middle useless compartment with little things inside. The noise is gone when it's open. So i took the things off and just put some mini-kleenex in there.

HMM Mine is coming from the upper portion of the nav screen. If I press and hold the nav screen on the top or use the tilt function and tilt it all the way down it goes away.

Mine sounded more like a tapping noise from the top of the dashboard.

I have had some tapping noises from the steering column area, but it turned out to be just my keys hitting the plastic. Wouldn't cause a squeaking noise.

Squeaking is probably some pieces rubbing together. Have you checked all the pieces in the lower dash to make sure the clips are engaged and any bolts are tight?
