Noise from rear driver side when braking??

Hey all,
I am having a really annoying issue with my SR5. I have taken it to Toyota, they didn't have a clue... go figure. I also have searched this forum, which btw, I have not posted on this forum yet, but I do read it daily... and omg do some of you ppl cry a lot about searching lol.

Anyways, to get to the point... when coming to a complete stop.. it is almost as if when the weight of the vehicle shifts upon completely stopping.. I hear this "ping" noise. It is quite faint but definitely noticeable. My wife can even pick it out by being on the passenger side with only my window (driver side) cracked. The so called "ping" noise is almost the noise of hitting two hollow pipes softly together. It is wierd..

Though it does not make my vehicle react differently or unstable. I have looked underneath the vehicle to see if something loose, yet no luck. The service guy at Toyota rode with me to listen to it, and he said.. "doesn't sound like anything we will be able to fix... but we'll check it out and grease everything up for ya..."

Any help is appreciated. I could try to get some kind of recording of it... but i do not know if any device that I own would pick up the noise clearly enough.

Maybe this isn't it, but I had a noise drive me nuts everytime I stopped too. Turned out to be the drivers side lower clip on my cargo net. Apparently it would swing just enough to hit the hatch. I was really happy when i found it! Next time do a search...kidding!:lmao:

LOL 1engineer... it would take an engineer to answer like that (no hard feelings). KK so i know how to utilize the interwebs bud.. I don't need u to show me. Though none of the issues within this forum are similar to mine. Hence i stated plz don't be an ass of my thread and hijack it with... "Use the Search button plz, kthx"

hmm good suggestion, but the wife would be of no help in the area of... "can u figure out where it is coming from?" Maybe i'll just have to get a friend to check it out for me.
 
I kept hearing a squeak for the longest time and couldn't track it down. turns out it was my Yakima bike rack.

I'm an idiot.

Possibly the brake pedal assist spring according to google search?

It's nice that you have learned to use the internet. Maybe now you can concentrate on using complete words instead of 1337speak and quit being a jerk to people trying to help you.

Thanks for your kind words. Let me take this introduction to apologize to you for my improper use of grammer while on the internet.. Let me apologize for in my initial post stating that I had searched the entire forum, and that I did not want anyone stating "Try the Search button," and lastly.. Let me apologize that my career be based on technology where I work with a bunch of geeks that all speak the same way that I do in leisurely manner and that while communicating via a forum, I refuse to construct my postings in a manner fitting for college paper. lol, being a jerk, how about someone not posting anything relevant to the issue at hand, and just calling someone out?

I didn't ask for apologies. I asked for common courtesy and respect for people trying to help you solve your problem, specifically 1Engineer. How you speak, write, and the general tone you use directly effects how you are perceived in the work place, any internet forum, and every first personal encounter. If you want to rant and rave and talk like a nerd, that is your prerogative, but you had better be one hell of a developer... because anyone using that kind of language in professional correspondence, such as email, has an automatic ceiling on their career and their earnings.

It's ok if you think I'm a jerk, I quit caring about your opinion the moment you copycatted my response to jam46283; if you are going to argue, at least be original.

If none of the issues in this forum are similar to yours based on your research, you should have started your first post something like "Help! I have a distinct noise coming from the rear of my 4Runner. It only happens when braking. I have searched all of the noise threads and not found anything that is similar. If you have any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance."

On another note, you really need to learn how to communicate. Maybe take a class or something.

on another note... when someone says they searched... just believe it.. we are grown ups btw... i don't have to communicate other than that irl... so as mike puts it... i shouldn't have to here either...

Man... a lot of ppl on this thread that are *******s... don't understand what makes ppl get e-peens so easily. state something... and they will fight you. No matter what the subject. Woot go 4runner... best community yet lol
