noise in driver side door 05 runner v6 4wd

i recently noticed a noise coming from the driver side. it's the kind of noise that you hear when hard stuff in the door storage hit the inside wall of the storage when you make a sudden turn. i cleaned out the door storage, both front and rear. didnt help. i then thought it must be stuff in the cargo area that's moving around. looked into that and it doesn't appear that's the case. finally i said i got it - must be the bottle jack and wrench tools in the hidden compartment going loose. applied the rubber band in there to fix the wrench set rightly into place. damn - i still hear that noise making a right turn. confused, i looked around under chasis and didnt find anything loose.

i think now i may have found the cause. i wiggled the driver side front door after getting out of it at work park lot. i hear that noise like something *inside* the door is moving around. what could go wrong in there? I did have the door lock repaired in jan 05 or Feb - maybe the tech left his wrench there - or some speaker part got loose? But then I am pretty sure this didnt happen before.

i am afraid to disassemble that door so maybe i'll just take it to the stealers. Any tips? Thanks.

Sorry tcpoob, this doesn't really help you, but I experience speaker buzzing from the 6x9 in the driver door at strong low frequencies. Does any one know about any quick fixes on this??

I'd take it back to the dealer. If they did some work they could have possibley left something that worked itself loose.

thanks, that's a useful link on the door disassembly details. i am a wimp when it comes to mechanical work so just looking at that pdf messes me up. i'll try the stealer.

Mine used to rattle. something poped, and it has stoped. I figured that the door panel was off a bit. dont :bash: it to hard

next time you bring it in.. just get them to check it. Probably some plastic clip or beer can. (i'm just joking about the beer...maybe not if it's full!)

FYI

took it to a nearby dealer yesterday. they opened the interior door panel, found the "regulator" for window motor was loose. They resecured it and took it out for a spin and it seemed to be fixed. This is a diff dealership service dept from which I bought the car from and had it first serviced (to fix/replace lock cyclinder) in 1/2005.

Is it likely the loose regulator problem inside the driver door was introduced by sloppy service when I had the lock fixed at the dealership right after buying it in Jan?

Does the selling dealership usually provide better service than when you bring it to another Toyota dealership? I guess not necessarily.
