Noise when coasting

I have a "chirping" noise that seems to be coming either from the engine area or the front end. I only hear it when coasting. When I am giving it gas going down the road there is no noise at all. When I let off the pedal I hear the chirping noise it will start low and get a little louder and then pause and then same thing over again but when I give it a little gas the noise goes away. I just noticed this tonight and tried listening to it with the window down and my head hanging out but its hard to tell what it is. Sitting still in park or in drive there is no noise idling and when you rev the engine there is no noise. The "chirping" noise almost sounds like plastic rubbing together if that helps anyone trying to diagnose this. Any help will be much appreciated guys. Thanks

I would find a hill, get to it, turn the engine off (put in neutral) and see if it does it then. That would rule out the engine if the sound happens. To re start while moving, put the truck in neutral and re start, as if you were stopped in park. This will give power steering and brakes back. Try this and update, if it still does it it could be something like a lose bolt. Good luck!

Keep an eye on your engine temp. Last time I had "chirping" in the engine the water pump was on its last legs. Do you smell antifreeze after you stop the car and turn off the engine?

No not smelled anything as of now. Temps are excellent and engine is tight BUT I do have almost 127k miles on the factory water pump and timing belt... Gotta get that done...

There is an on going thread in regards to this... I am convinced it's the trans, as it seems to go away after my trans hits about 105 degrees.

I've read some about what you are saying in regards to the transmission. I had driven 28 miles from work to my house so I know that the transmission temp was good and everything shifted as it should. Thanks
