2005 sport V6 For anyone that still has the seat problem and not had it fixed I just had mine done. After suffering for over 20k miles and complaining to Toyota and not getting anywhere its done And thanks to this great forum I picked up the TSB on the seat and armed with it went to the stealer and they acknowleged it and said they would order the new seat rails and call me. I was doubtful that just seat rails would fix this problem...it boings and bongs and all kinds of noise comes from it but it seams to have done the trick so far. Its been a week and no noise. What a relief...but you got to go to them with TSB ...don't no the no. but its here in the forum. Thanks to all who posted and pestered the stealers and Toyota...worked for me.

I've had mine fixed for about 2 weeks and so far so good. I've had to live with the issue for 30K miles and I got it fixed right before normal warranty expired.
If it becomes a problem later on, I have the extended warranty.

The TSB goes beyond just replacing the rails. The part numbers are for the entire seat framework. After reading my other thread can you look under your seat? See if you have the cheap stamped gears on the end of the seat bottom adjustment rod (at the door side of the rod; inside underneath but behind the adjustment knob.) Sorry for the lousy description.

Can someone tell me exactly what the defective seat does? I have an '06 SR5 and the seat seems fine. Sometimes I think (could be all in my head I guess) I feel the seat shift a bit when I go into an aggressive corner but it's pretty random and I can't ever duplicate it when I'm not moving.

Mine is an 04. I had the driver seat problem too at around 20K miles. The symptom was klunking noise and feeling a minor shift is the seat when braking. If you stood outside the vehicle and reached in, you could rock the driver's seat diagonaly back forth about 3/4", front left to back right.
The dealer agreed it was a problem and replaced the "seat rail assembly". They outsourced the work to a local aplolstery shop and they removed my original seat and frame and re-installed it on the new "seat rail assembly".
That was about 15K miles ago and the seat is still fine. No telling what the future will bring, but for now, the driver seat is quiet and works fine.

Mine is the manual seat and has play in the thigh support cushion adjustment mechanism. My seat cushion is 2 parts. If you grab the front (thigh) cushion it moves around just like it does when driving. This happens regardless of the postion of the adjustment because there is play in the meshing between the cheap gears in the mechanism. The rest of the seat is solid. I thought they got rid of this in later model years by giving all trim levels electric seats.

Thanks for the info....My '06 still has the manual seat adjustments so I guess I'll go poke around the seat tomorrow morning and see if it has any play in the base. I saw the TSB for my model year somewhere on the site but if my seat is good I don't see any reason to bring it in yet. I'll probably just print a copy of the TSB and toss it in the owners manual for future reference.

On the TSB it says to use part 71120-35151 but I can't find that in partznet. Whatever part was used, it fixed the issue for now.
