Noisey sunroof

Does anyone's sunroof rattle?

Is there a screw in there to tighten?

My sunroof creeks and makes noise to where I have to shut the shade to not hear it.

Looks like the problem carried over from the 4th Generation.

...No solution on my end...BUMP...

Mine is perfectly silent.

I know that the 4Runners have that plastic wrap/covering on some of the sunroof components when they arrive from the factory. Dealer removed mine for me, but forgot one or two strips. I removed the rest myself.

Perhaps you've got a piece flapping around?

Just a thought.

My sunroof was silent for about a year.....now when it is just 'tilted up' all of the way and I go over a bump I get a rattle. When it is fully open it is silent and when it slides and moves it is silent.

My sunroof is fine as well over 7 months. Are you sure it's a sunroof? Once in one of my previous vehicles I have a rattle which drove me crazy, and sunroof was my main suspect. I was about to go to dealership but then I found it - it was a plactic water bottle in console cupholder : )

Mine is the same as yours except it also squeaks as well as rattles. This happens only when it is tilted up. Any other position and it is silent.

Let me ask this , do you hear it when the sunroof is full open (you should not) , tilted or closed is where you hear squeeky or rattle type noise ?

This is what worked for me on my 5th gen and also did on my 4th gen:

I wiped all the rubber seals down on the sunroof with a rubber/vinyl protectant such as (Armor all) or something similar. The seals can get dirty an will simulate a rattling sound . You need to do this with the sunroof in multiple positions to get the seals top and bottom cleaned well.

I also wipe down with the same rag the painted area's that the rubber seals come in contact with the painted area's so the are clean and smooth too.

This was the only maint. I ever did to my sunroof when it started to rattle or squeek on both trucks . It works wonders and do it when need or a few times per year.

Worked for me .

Mine would simulate a rattling sound . Its a free thing try so give it a shot. Mine would sound just like a rattle too. Mine would make the sound in the tilt and closed position , but not the open one .

Mines got around 15k miles on it and I haven't heard a peep out of the moonroof. I use it a lot as well, but so far, it's quiet.

Just my 2 cents.

Mine rattled in the vented and open position soon as i took it off the lot.
I brought it back in the next week and the tech fixed it in 30 minutes. He knew exactly what the issue was because he said it happened on other vehicles as well. Not exactly sure what the problem was, but i think i recall him saying he taped something down.
I would call the dealer you bought it from, let them hear the creek after hitting every small bump...then figure it out.

I keep meaning to post this but I 'fixed' the problem! I 'vented' the sunroof one day and looked around from something that might have gotten down in the track/groves/etc, all clean (on a ladder leaning over). Everything looked clean, got in and drove, rattle was still there, frustrated I reached up and squeezed the driver side 'accordion' type material, pushed it around a little bit, not enough to do damage and the rattle stopped! It has been months and the sound has not returned. What the &*%&$ I did I have NO clue, but it worked! Essentially I kicked the tire and fixed the truck, lol.

Check the height that the moon roof rises. I recently checked mine and it just does not close completely. I'm looking into what the fix maybe, hopefully it can be reset somehow, I really dont want to go to the dealership where they will charge me 1k just to replace it and not fix it at all.
