Non-glamorous Audio Install 01 sr5

Very basic but the system transplanted very nicely from the Civic... Love how easy it was to run wire in!

:p

Components somewhat outdated, but i do plan to maybe get the Pioneer FH-P4200MP HU later, as i really want a tape/cd combo w/o use of a changer. Pioneer is really the only brand HU i like, with the great eq's i can't really afford not to have them. Although i'm not particularly fond of that current model Pioneer Double Din for whatever reason.

Still using stock speakers for highs, although i wired up power for my amps, using a Kicker zx400.1 on the sub and a Kenwood 4 channel for the highs (will likely upgrade the Kenwood too)

Overall sounds pretty good right now :bigok: Bass overpowers the highs of course but turned down it has a great overall sound. Windows up, excellently moderate!

Unexciting pics :
Perfect spot for that Kicker bass level unit!

Amps fit perfectly under the seats, which is exactly where i hoped i could put them.. :D

Holy crap that box is fricken huge.

Yeah i think it was the biggest ported box design available for the sl7. I wanted a lot of sub end. :D

Edit: that is a dual voice coil sl7 btw

Found this online, this box is pretty much the same design as the box i have pictured, only mine was hand built by my installer friend. Same dimensions tho.

That's cool. I've always seen Kickers in pretty large boxes, but after looking at their website those boxes seem to be about right.

How do you like the SQ out of it?

It rocks hard, sounds like at least 2-12's with sub bass that mimics the sound i've gotten from 15's

Using the pioneer eqs on the radio along with the kicker eqs on the amp really gets a good clean sound out of it. Sounds good on all types of music (on bass boomer type music, its brutal!)

I've had a lot of systems, from 4-15"s to 1-8" bandbass (and a couple sets of bazooka tubes) and this 10" here is my most favored setup i've had. Not too much (room/power/problems), and plenty enough sound for sure. Best of all worlds imo.

I keep the kicker gain levels around half at all times. With the ported box, the speaker is more efficient and doesn't need to be overpowered to move air. Really helps on the amp end. Using a zx400.1 mono amp now but used a zr120 bridged at 2 ohms at first and both powered it well, although the zr120 would tend to overheat on hot days when cranked up (amp was in my trunk then too)

They make other models of the solobaric but this one is the $350 dual voice coil model, and i would give it a 10/10 in a review. :bigok: Been using it since about 2002.
