Non-OEM Exhaust Tip

While ago, I installed non-OEM Exhaust Tip I bought on E-bay for 13$ including shipping. It was really cheap comparing to one made by Valor that You can get for over 40$. However, as always, cheaper isn't better. I like the look but I had to cut off around 3" of exhaust because otherwise it didn’t look right. After a week or maybe 2 , this tip started to corrode inside. Now all paint is gone but it is black again inside so I haven’t throw it away .............yet.
I think it would be much better to go with a OEM tip but I have to say I like the look of this one maybe because is much bigger than Valor's tip.


It is Pilot Round Exhaust Tip
3-1/2" In - 4" Out.
Fits: 2-1/2" - 3-1/4" Pipe.
Length: 10"

Looks good. Shortening the pipe was a great idea.

I've been considering removing the resonator (balloon before the tip) and putting in a side exit chrome tip of some kind.

That would fix my problem with an odor that goes inside while driving with rear window down. Mine is V6 but sometimes it smells really bad. However for now it is too cold to drive with open windows so I'll wait untill spring.....

the exhuast basically gets sucked in by a vacuum cause by the

That is true but if You move your exhaust tip to the side right after rear wheel everything that comes out of exhaust (including odor) won't be sucked in inside...

i have trd duals and i have the odor just as bad as anyone else
it may look nice but when your driving it is inevitable that the exhaust will get sucked into the vehicle.

You might be right.. I remember that someone here did this mode and later he said that odor was gone or reduced so that is why I said it would help me. I have V6 and there is no recall or anything for mine 4Runner but it smells BAD.... I went 2 times to dealer and both of them said "Change your gas station because it is from gasoline." I use many gas station so that wasn't good advice....
So mine next thought was to modify exhaust and move it to the side...... And it looks nice too

which dealers did you go to? can you do warranty work at any dealer? if so i'd take mine to libertyville. i don't know about their service dept. but there salespeople were very pleasant to deal with.

I went to Midtown Toyota ( ) and Elmhurst Toyota (that is where I bought mine 4R). You can go to any dealer with warranty work and that's for sure because I asked them about that. It's a good think to call them ahead and ask if it possible to schedule an appointment because when I called Midtown Service Dept., guy told me to come first thing in the morning so I was there 10 minutes after they open and there was a line with about 15 people waiting so I had to go back home ....So better call them before You go .....and let me know how's service dept in Libertyville because it might be better the ones that are close to where I live.
