will non Trd tundra springs provide any lift/improvement on the front of our 4runners? a buddy of mine has a complete 1st gen tundra suspension with very low miles just sitting around.

Yes, but its reported to not be as comfortable and not as tall as the TRDs

I used them on my last 4runner, and they gave about 1" of lift and a good ride.

my plan is to run them with adjustable bilstein 5100s until the eibach coils are back in stock at toytec.
