Noob from SoCal - Looking for '99 IJM SR5

Hey guys, I'm Patrick, just joined the forum. New to the 4Runner scene but not new to Toyotas. I've owned a '94 Supra original twin turbo for seven years that I've built into basically a full-blown 1000hp race car. Anyway this build is almost done and I'm looking at getting a 4Runner. I really like the imperial jade mica cars. They painted MKIV Supras the same color and I have always loved them. I'll be lurking the for sale section for the right T4R and spend time researching as much as I can on regular maintenance and common modifications, etc. Thanks guys and glad to be here.

Almost done with this thing. I've got the turbo inlet all taped up and the bag on the intake side is protecting the harness from when I recently washed the bay but there she is. This might be a stupid question as I haven't explored much yet on the forum but do guys use 3rd gen 4Runners to tow? Car weighs probably like 3300 lbs.

You can use the 3rd gen but a 4th gen with the 4.7 V-8 would be a superior choice. The 3rd gen has the 3.4 V-6 which is a great engine but not really up to hauling a racecar, car hauler, and all the tools, parts, and fuel associated with it. Beautiful Supra by the way! :driving:

I'm pretty dedicated to finding a 3rd gen. The fact that it doesn't have the strongest towing capabilities doesn't bother me. I was more curious if anything. I will just have to continue calling my friends with Tundras.

Hey guys quick question, I found a really nice '98 close to me that's had the front end facelift conversion but I'm wondering if I can also install the side rails that seem to come on most 99+ 3rd gens?
