Noob looking for LC suspension info

Whats the run down on using Land cruiser suspension parts on a 3rd gen 4runner?

I'm looking to rebuild a crashed 4runner with heavy suspension damage, so I would rather put the good stuff in there but I just don't know exactly what fits, I'm also going to do the tundra big brake upgrade at the same time.

I am not looking for rock crawling, just expeditions (weekend trips). Very similar to sr5sushis old rig.

If your looking for bolt on, the landcruiser stuff wont work. Im pretty sure others have used landcruiser font axles for a SAS but (if I remember correctly) the front diff is passenger side on an 80 series. You'll need to check my information because my memory is a little foggy on that.

Also read mml's build thread for info on the lc axle swap.

If you have heavy suspension damage in the front you will likely need a new frame or a really good frame shop. I prefer a new frame that way you know it's right. The 98 and up LC has IFS but I doubt it will bolt on. Good luck.

Right, and they have torsion bar suspension. So hows that axle conversion coming along? I'm about to go check your build thread

The only part that will require welding is your panhard drop.

Make sure the 8 wraps are from a stock 80 series. (91-97 year model)

Yeah I'm wondering what suspension damage he's talkin about. Since what he listed is just a basic suspension setup. If his suspension is "heavily damaged" I would think his UCA's are done-for, LCA's, CV's, sway bars, upper and lower ball joints, pitman arm, inner and outer TRE's, possibly steering rack, possible frame damage? etc.... :noidea:

Sorry guys I haven lt actually bought the 4runner yet. Most of the trucks
I see at auction are hammered and those are the ones that go for a few grand, I
Wanted to see the cost/time labor to do something like that vs buying one that's already modded and ready to go.

If you're looking at wrecked, messed up 4runners, you should be more concerned about the price of body work, given the frame is not bent. You can run that suspension setup you listed for cheap if you source used parts. Most hard to source used; the panhard drop and the body lift.

If you're planning on spending a few grand, you might as well buy one that hasn't been wrecked and that is in working order.

I have about 6 grand in it right now, need to spend about 3 more to get it like I want it.
