Noob Question about X-reas ?

What is so bad about ?

If I was to get the toytech 3" & 2" spring lift kit , will I be able to install it without having to upgrade my rear shocks ?

There should be a Faq about this item .

I did a search and the search is not very helpful in answering my question . The sticky about the Xreas say's nothing about what lifts work with the system and what lifts need replacing of the rear shocks .
So can I use a spring lift , or do I have to use a spacer lift ?

If the XREAS was only so cheap to replace, you'd get tons of answers. Once you screw up one, you have to replace the other. Some ppl just put spacers (Daystar or Toytec).

LOL , that maybe why you have been the only reply !

It only has 33,000 miles on it so I'm pretty sure it still works , but I was just hoping that there was a sticky or a thread showing what lift people have put on that works , wether the did springs or spacers .

Using the search only gave me the sticky , which describes what the system does , but not much else .

I did a 3&2 spacer kit from Toytec on my 2008 Tundra , and was hoping this time I could go with the spring kit instead .

Hopefully I'll get tons of answers .

I'm looking at this kit : 3" lift kit w/ front & rear coils - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits

Will I be able to keep the rear Stock set-up or need to get longer shocks ?

Or should I just go with the Corn Fed 3&2 spacer lift , I will not be doing any seriuos Off Roading , only looking to be able to increase tire size .

Yeah , like I said why is there no sticky for what will or what will not work for the Xreas system ?

Please don't think because my post count is low that I don't know how to use the search .

Who wants to read thru pages and pages of threads looking at people's opinions that have not installed anything yet or whom ask the same question as me ?

I am well aware that if I sit here and read thru every thread on this forum , I might find 1 or 2 answers .

It seems to me that if a question is asked often enough then there should be a thread , sticky , including the most asked questions and the answers .

I been around forums and try to help anyone who asks if I have the answers .

The search function on these forums is not specific , but gives a general results based on keywords .

But It's only because its stock . Hopefully very soon it wont be , and I can get it dirty . Heck , I might even drive down a gravel road just to be risky !!!1

I'm in the same boat as you...........have a '03 Sport V8 with 57K miles and was going to do the 3/2 Cornfed until I saw the springs set from Toytec. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask about the 3/2 coils since I would prefer that. No off-roading here either.......just doing it for looks and to accomodate 285's. There is a guy here on the threads (screen name TOYTEC) from Toytec.......maybe he could have our answers!!

Toytec Lifts on this forum is great to deal with. He is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Also, he'll hook you up with a discount for being a member of the forum, so it's a win-win situation.

Hey TY both for that advice , I will take it and get hold of ToyTec for some advice on this matter .
 
my point was that is if u read enough about the xreas system, what it does, how it works, & whats needed to repair it. you'ed see putting lifting coils in is a bad idea, it stresses the shock & may start a leak which would be a costly repair at the least, thats why most use only the spacer lift with the xreas, or replace it completely. you misunderstood my preveious post, but im not surprised since you didnt want to take, or want to waste the time to see exactly what was in all those old posts, one never knows if an answer to they're question is on the first, tenth, or last page. heres an example: http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2254&highlight=springs+xreas read what photog says, goodluck in your search.

Well again , you seem to think I'm not reading what you type .

You do a search on most forums and get nothing specific to the question asked . Yes , I've been on forums too and have over 5000 posts on a Tundra forum , and yes it does seem like noobs always ask the same questions .
The problem with all forums is that if you know the answers , then plaese help out someone who needs the answers , is that so wrong ?
If this seems unreasonable , then allow me to un-register at all the forums I belong to and never help anyone out .

A good Idea was started about the Xreas on this forum and is long over due for an update , showing what people use without any modification to the stock Xreas system , not opinions as to what may or may not work but Facts .

I've done my share of Research and that's why I joined this forum ! To try to get some answers on something more specific to my questions . Was I wrong for doing that ?
 
did you even read the last link i just posted? even tho its old theres at least 1 person who used aftermarket springs with xreas & gives his thought on it, vs spacers, but instead , u post with attitude saying no ones done this before , theres no answer to ur question,(theres alot of guys who have gotten the answers to the same questions u asked) or nobody wants to help u out with FACTS. also, its not good enough since its not updated. again , theres plenty of posts by people who have xreas & exactly what they used to lift. since alot of things have been discussed many times before, EVERYONE can & has benefited from using the search, thats one reason why this forum keeps the old threads, a person should just have patience enough to go thru 30+ pages if need be while they are waiting for a response, which may take time. u sir are the one that stated not wanting to waste ur time using the search & going thru pages & pages .for someone thats looking for help, i believe ur the one that first came with attitude, not me. once again, i politely suggest putting laziness aside & read & learn before accusing a forum or person of anything.

So you can put up a sticky on this forum for Pictures of lifts and wheels but no sticky with good info about a stock suspension and what lifts work and what lifts don't ?

This is suppose to be a site about the Toyota 4Runner and I asked a question about it . If you like to sit on your computer all day browsing thru endless threads to find 1 or 2 answers , I'm happy for you ! I was expecting to replies from people that actually have the same suspension as I do , and not get an Attitude like you're giving me !

There , please do not reply to this thread unless you have an Xreas and have done a lift on it . This will eliminate the kind of attitude I'm dealing with from Chaz .

I'm not a child , so please don't treat me like one and send me SA replies in a PM .

If this forum was going to be more helful this would be in a faq , along with what tires fit without a lift , what CAI fit , etc. etc .

People are quick to jump on a new person , for asking a fairly easy question that should be posted already on this forum .

Instead , you get bashed and it's okay because They have more posts than you do .

Now chaz , I'm quite sure you have never asked any questions on this forum , because you have already found every answer through your 30 pages of search results .

Hi All,

So the deal is, the xreas suspension is no different than any other suspension in regards to the fact that if you keep a stock length shock after a 2 inch lifted rear, your going to end up with a limited flex do to the short shock.

So, if you plan on keeping the truck in dirt or paved roads, then this issue doesn't really exist. But if you plan on 4wheeling the rig, you would be advised to get longer shocks for more articulation.

But by all means, either the OME or the ToyTec superflex coil will work with the xreas shock suspension.
