Noob speaker questions

I have just ordered a pair of Alpine SPR-57LP speakers for the front.

It's a 2003 SE. Upgrading from stock speakers.

(Have also ordered a Scion radio and PIE adapter.)

Looks like the speaker install should be quite doable, thanks to the instructions on this site. But I do have a question:

Should I buy separate tweeters to install? I'm not much of an audiophile and have never done this before. Always just suffered with stock speakers.

Looks like the new speakers have a tweeter built in. (?)

Are there stock tweeters in these doors?

If so, should I disconnect them? ... Keep them wired? ... Replace them with new separate tweeters?

Again. pardon the noobness.

I don't need an awesome set-up, but I want it to sound a lot better than the stock audio.

OK, I just ordered the SPR-57LS component speakers as well. I'll put those up front and put the two-way speakers in the rear. (?)

Does that make sense?

Makes total sense: the component set with the tweets for the front, and a coaxial set for the rear. That's what most people have done in this forum and have been very happy with that setup. You won't be disappointed.

It's a pretty straightforward replacement if you search and read and ask questions about the install from those of us in here. You don't have to be an audiophile or expert in electronics to do the install.

Excellent. That's very helpful.

I'm pretty confident about doing the installation. The big thing was I wanted to make sure I had chosen the right speakers before doing the job. The wattage seems appropriate for the Scion HU that I'll be putting in, but I wasn't certain about the whole component set-up thing as I've always just lived with paper cone stock crap.

This is going to be cool.

I've already integrated my Pocket PC into the 4R equation -- for GPS nav, streaming audio, live cable TV via Orb, etc. (EV-DO broadband connection.) I plan to post pix of the set-up when the whole system is ready for prime time.

let me know how it sounds when you do it. Ive been thinking about replacing the speakers but wasnt sure if it would be worth it if i wasnt getting a new HU (i have the Scion HU). Let me know how it turns out... im interested!

OK, the speakers are all in and they sound great. Turned out the 5x7 coaxials did not fit in the rear doors, so I got 5.5's and used the stock plastic to mount them. Had to cut away some plastic on the door panel to make it fit. In the front, I cut adapters out of MDF for the woofers and the tweeters.

I might see about getting an amp at some point. The Scion HU is nice, but it doesn't seem to have the oomph to take full advantage of the speakers. I sometimes have it turned up to near max volume when listening to MP3's. It's not booming loud, but I don't like booming loud.
