NOOB Tire Question, don't laugh

I currently have the BFG Rugged Trail T/A and was looking at the BFG All Terrain. My current tire size is 265/65R17.... what is the difference between my current tire and the BFG All Terrain 265/70R17?

265/70/17 would be roughly 1" taller.

The BFG all terrain is also more aggressive than the BFG Rugged Trail.

^Yep. Most switch to 265/70's, especially if they're gong to lift. Some of the BFG's cause rubbing I believe, so you'll want to look at that.

ARK SWAMP- do you think something like these would fit after my FJ coil conversion? I don't want to hve to cut anything and of course don't want any rubbing

Are you set on the BFG KOs?

You should look at the Goodyear Duratracs.

The 265/70/17s will fit stock as long as you don't have or want wheel spacers, however I found the tires to be uncomfortably close to the upper control arms without them. I ended up using the wheelspacers with a spacer/fj coil lift and still needed to move the fender liners forward and trim the mudflaps. No issues with the rear. Love the tires though and they have been awesome in the snow.

do your lift 1st then find a place that will do a test fit on the tires for you. that's the best way even though we all have done the tire routine, for some reason we come out with differnet results.

Maybe I didnt ask the question right. On my CJ i have 35x12.5x15 and I know what all the numbers mean, what does 265/70/17 mean? I am guessing the 17 is the wheel size... are the other numbers in mm as opposed to inches or something?

265 is the width in mm, 70 is the sidewall height (70% of 265) and 17 is rim size

:iagree: you multiply .70*265 to get sidewall height, then double that and convert to inches.. Then add it to 17 to get overall tire height

Had to get some new shoes for my 06' LTD today. Went with the Michelin LTX M/S 2's. They did not have the 265/60/18 in stock and were in fact backordered so I went with the 265/65/18. They are a hair taller and "feel" a bit heavier. This could be, however, due to the fact my original tires were so worn down. Got a pretty good deal on them as well.

Anyhow, it feels like a totally new car with the new tires. Only minor drawback is the speedometer issue. Looks like a +2mph difference when cruising at 60mph. No biggie.
