Noob with specific Revo/Xterrain tire questions

Yes it is off subject but someone else brought us off subject. You can continue running crap gas as far as I am concerned.

Chill out, man. I am not disagreeing with you. I run whatever is recommended for my vehicle. However, your point about premium gas = clean fuel injectors may not be true. Premium gas has nothing to do with how much detergent (aka stuff that clean injectors/fuel system) is in the gas.

The Revo may be a great tire, but not only is the rolling resistance higher, but it is also a significantly heavier tire than the stock tire, even in the stock size. Any increase in unsprung weight (tires, wheels brake components etc...) is a fuel economy killer, much more so than the same amount of weight added in the cargo area.

If you are looking for a decent tire that offers foul-weather traction and lower rolling resistance, along with less weight, take a look at the BFGoodrich Rugged Trails. They are standard equipment on Xterras with the off-road package, and they have a nice agressive tread pattern. They are available in the original size too.

I went from stock size Maxxis Bravo HTs to my Nittos which a one size bigger and a Dload range tire and I noticed maybe a .5/gallon drop in mileage. Nothing significant but I've heard of a 2-3 mile drop per gallon from the Silent Armor tires which IMO is a bit rediculous but it also might be an exaggeration a bit.

And I also will reitierate that running higher octane fuel has nothing to do with how well it keeps your injectors clean,it's the brand and I always use a reputable brand over some no-name gas station and I don't really like buying grocery store gas.

Race gas which I ran in my Eclipse was 105 octane but contained zero detergents and was doing nothing to keep my injectors clean.

All higher octane is for is to prevent pre-ignition (knock) when high cylinder pressures are present as in high compression and forced induction motors;it doesn't make horsepower,it allows an engine tuned for high octane to produce the horsepower.
