Hello guys new to the site and to 4runners. Just picked up this 1985. It shows 192K on the odometer but has about 50K on the drivetrain.

The body and interior are rough but mechanically it runs like a champ. Once i get the interior sorted out we will head to paint. Aiming for a burnt orange color.

It has the EFI engine. Upgrades include a 3inch body lift, 31x10.50 tires, Landcruiser axles are 3inches wider than stock. It also has front disc brakes from a Landcruiser that are larger and vented.

Nice. Love the SFA. You thinkin of going all over orange or are you going to make the top a different color? I'm ready to paint mine also but not sure where to get paint in a color of my choice. Most places only sell a few popular colors. Repost with any more updates.

Probably gonna do a orange and black. Leave the top black and maybe do something down the side in black. I saw a jeep the other day that was orange, though more a HD competition orange, and it had a block of matte black on the hood and down the sides that looked really nice.

The SFA was a big selling point for me. I dont mind the rough ride and kind of limited turning radius, its a truck basically and I dont mind it handling like a truck. I dont do a whole lot of off roading but when I do the SFA rocks.

I'd work on the body and frame rust first, it's a Toyota's worst enemy

Nice find. It looks like the person that owned it made some good improvements(axles). I agree with the previous poster. Check for rust and repair as needed. Look behind that plastic piece in front of the rear tires.

For paint, if you do orange and black, paint some black SR5 stripes on. You can even try and fade them in with some shades of gray.

Already found moderate cancer that will be second in line after the seals in the rear end which are leaking.

I have been shopping for a toyota either a runner or a pickup in this year range for quite some time.

If the guy doing my body work can do the job I am gonna thinks he can handle it i am gonna replace the quarters and tailgate that are bad with fiberglass.
