Noobie.....with question

Hello, I have just purchased an 04 4WD 4Runner. I love the vehicle, but i have a few questions. Firstly, mine only has 9k miles on it but I noticed some scratches on the clear plastic that covers the gauges. I bought some Mothers plastic polish and this did not really help, so I put some 303 on it and that seems to hide them. Is there any good way to really get rid of these? Does anyone know if plexiglass is replaceable independently of the cluster? Also, it seems that a lot of the interior parts around the console would scratch easily....is this the case? Thanks
Matt

I am gonna pick up some Meguiars 17 at boaters world in a few minutes and try that. I probably ought to clean the IP first to get the 303 off.

scratches

are the scratches on the dash guages or on the radio or the temp controls display?
i had scratches too! near the temp gauges display, an simply peeled off the protective covering (like protective tape)
sorry if no help

My is like that too !its get scratch really easy. It really bad when the sunlight hit it!!I call the dealer about a new clear piece and its $24 for a new one. I was also thinking about getting a really light scratch resisted piece of tint like 50% and tinting it to cover up the scratches.

What about using scratch filler that people use on glasses. I would think this would work for plastic as well. Just a thought.

I am a photographer for a living, so I'm use to cleaning very expensive lenses. I did the same thing on the cluster lenses, and it scratched the hell out of them. Instead of trying to buff out the scratches, I think I'd rather just get a new piece of plastic, then use only canned air to clean it. I won't be touching it again.

I scratched the lens on my instrument cluster the first day I had my 4Runner home. Man, was I ever pissed! Luckily I noticed before too much damage was done though. Good luck fixing them.

i had the dealer replace mine under warranty. they were doing some other work on my vehicle and just threw it in, no charge!
