Normal Coolant temp for 22RE?

So....I installed aftermarket gauges in my 4runner and one of them is coolant temp. The needle doesn't move - stays at cold.

NOW...the range starts at 130 degrees as the "low" point on the dial....does anyone know what the normal range is for the 22RE engine for coolant temp?

I just did a coolant flush too - and no change.

Never had a problem with my engine in 6 years and 256,000 miles now - want to make sure I'm within normal range of temp (and maybe bought the wrong kind of gauges??)

I thought it seemed low (if it was working at all)....so I guess than means my sender/gauge is shot.....sigh.

Where in the cooling system is the sending unit installed?

I's possible it is getting an air bubble behind it or something, but even then I'd think it would read something.

The same location as the factory sender. And the factory sender has of course, since broken off. I had installed this gauge kit a couple years back and it was reading on the dial - above 130 degrees, but in recent months has not moved the needle.

So, it's not my recent coolant flush that did anything - the symptoms were there before that happened.

Car is running great - just don't want to risk having a coolant issue and not knowing it's happening.

The sender type is a brass fitting that screws in, and has a thick, solod wire going from the sender, through the firewall, to the back of the gauge - I"m not sure what to look out for to see what's faulty there...
