I read somewhere that a Jeep rolled over and that caused issues. Not sure how that would create issues though, if everyone has to sign a liability waiver.

I read somewhere that a Jeep rolled over and that caused issues. Not sure how that would create issues though, if everyone has to sign a liability waiver.

"This is to clarify gossip, rumors and all other cluster foxtrot.
An incident occurred late February resulting in a vehicle tip-over near a creek region. The operator and passenger were not injured. This unfortunate event turned into the perfect “Kodak” moment for some. The “Kodak” shot(s) reached the wrong people. And the transmission of the pics were lightning fast. It’s that simple.
Some have blamed the operator of the vehicle for the shutdown. Although, the attempted maneuver was ill-advised, he is NOT the cause. For, I cannot begin to believe that one would intentionally put himself, the passenger and the vehicle into such a precarious spot. The fault is in the hands of the messenger. The old cliché “Don’t shoot the messenger” does NOT come into play here. It was the messenger. The messenger that transmitted the photos.
It has taken 140 days, nearly 10,000 man hours to get RCOR ready. All that was just a bump in the road.
As the top dog, I owe an apology to the RCOR people. I saw it coming. I even asked people with Kodak cams to refrain from transmitting. Perhaps I was not loud enough..."

Hmm... So after reading the posts on that jeep forum, it looks like people were worried about polluting or damaging the streams and waterways. That sucks.

Hey everyone, my busy season schedule is nearing a close and I am really getting excited about getting out in the beautiful spring weather to get some offroading in. Because I am brand new to offroading, I was hoping to find some tips here from you guys.
Specifically:
Where are some good beginner spots (for a stock 4Runner)
Where are places that offroading is definitely NOT ALLOWED
Are there any resources that list some good spots?
I'm not against just getting out there and exploring, but I like good intel and I don't like offending people so I don't want to go where I (and my 4Runners fat tires) am not allowed.

There is a website i've used to ship another vehicle to me. I'll look it up and PM you. It's not cheap, a few $100 uncovered. If you want it covered it's like 30% more as i recall.

I'll be up at Gore that weekend with some friends, we might try to make it to this one of the days. I've never been, I heard it gets very busy and some of the people are a bit "red" but it's fun otherwise.

I was doing some reading about local places to offroad and I found this as well. It's been a few years now, but I used to go to the Cove and man, has it changed alot since I was there last. Very disappointing to see, but I'm sure it is in the best interests of safety. I don't know if you guys have ever been there before the range was "cleaned up" but there were a few times when my friends and I just left because people were being dangerously unsafe with their firearms.
I'm signed up for the IceBreaker so I will see you out there. What are your plans for that weekend? I'll plan to be there for most of the event, but I may leave early on Sunday. I'm working on a Master's Degree right now so I predict that I will have some work that I need to get done that day.
Hey all, i'm heading with some friends to Gore this weekend. We aren't going to participate in the event, we will be wheeling though. A friend who's been multiple times said that you can actually have more fun wheeling if you don't pay and wait in line.
I'll be there Friday through Saturday around midday. I have too much stuff going on to be gone all weekend.
I know i owe some of you shipping info. RL has been crazy and i haven't had much time to think. I did get my front bumper and new skids on though. I bought a winch and 2nd battery setup but no time to install.
Hope all is well with everyone and if you're headed to Gore PM me and i'll send you my cell # (For those who don't have it.)

I remember hearing about this place years ago when I had my Jeep. I'd take my 4Runner out there, but without any rocker or skid protection, I should probably hold off.

Thursday-Friday Oray CO running things like Black Bear Pass.
Flying out of Grand Junction September 12.

I suggest Peters Mill Run/Taskers Gap in the GWNF. It's a little over an hour away depending on where you're at in NOVA.
