Noshirt's Stellar Blue Metallic '02 Sport Build

Unfortunate news...the P0440 and P0446 code popped up only after a few days after he canister install. Boy this is frustrating. I know most people wouldn't worry about it but my OCD kicks in and bothers the hell out of me haha.

Not sure where to go from here. It's either a vsv or the sender in the tank or whatever.

I have the same P0440 code in my 01. I found this thread some time ago but haven't had a chance to try it.

Might be of some use to you.

Over check valve was what I was referring to, couldn't remember what it was called haha. The pump always stopping when trying to fill up would explain the check valve going bad/P0440 code. I'll do that FSM test and see if I can hear anything. Thanks for the link!

Well, bittersweet news. Sold my first car which I told myself I'd never sell. Finally took payment on it today. Going to a good, local friend so I know it'll be taken care of...and finally finished haha.

On a positive note, it freed up some funds for a TRD Supercharger. Found a good deal on a 2nd gen that I'll do a rebuild on before install.

Finally received my supercharger. Can't wait to get this thing on. Ordered some Denso IK22 spark plugs and a new OEM supercharger belt. The one that came with it is a little dry rotted, will be a good backup.

Figured while I was down there, I'd do valve cover gaskets. Felpro gasket w/ spark plug grommets, OEM camshaft plugs and valve cover grommets, and some FIPG.

Well, had my derp moment for the day.

If you've been following along, I've been chasing the dreaded p0440/0446 Evap code for a month or two. Replaced gas cap, replaced with used charcoal canister, but the code p0440 still came on, this time more frequently than before.

I replaced the rearmost ujoint this weekend and while crawling under there, thought I'd take a gander at the charcoal canister to check and make sure all my hoses and lines were hooked up. Welp, one wasn't and it's the biggest hose on the canister [emoji19]. It takes a bit of force to get it to "click in", which is probably why I didn't hook it up correctly in the first place. Popped her back on there, hopefully that fixes it.

I've also been chasing a driveline vibration. Everything has been replaced that I can think of relating to it (general maintenance that I've been doing here and there). Everything is practically brand new under the truck.

Long story short, the ujoint didn't fix my slight vibration from 60-65MPH. Only thing I can think of is getting/fabbing up panhard bar drop brackets to center that driveshaft up to where it was before. I need to do that anyway, so we'll see if that fixes it.

Before. Certainly needed to be done. First time doing this since I bought it. I'm going to clean the throttle body when I install the supercharger.

After. Good lord what a difference. On top of fixing my evap leak and cleaning the MAF, I'm excited for my mileage to come up a little....that is, until I start running premium.

Well, it's nice getting better gas mileage after fixing the evap code and cleaning the MAF sensor.

Before i was getting around 220 miles on a tank. Now I'm at 260. Judging from the pump, I still had another gallon and a half.

Well, started to tear it down to prep for the supercharger install. Probably would be running but I wanted to do the much needed valve covers. Got the drivers side torn down, cleaned and new spark plug grommets installed, removed half moons and cleaned those. Going to do cam plugs and reseal tomorrow, then install drivers side valve cover. Then do the passenger side and then it's supercharger time. Hopefully I'll have enough time after work to knock the rest of that out.

Only pictures I have was for visual notation, but will post more pictures tomorrow.

Valve covers definitely needed to be done, I could loosen the valve cover bolts by hand [emoji849].

Where did you get your ultra gauge? Their site shows it's sold out and couldn't find anywhere else that sells it?
Also on some of your pictures it looks like you have a rubber seal between your fender flares and the fenders, if you do, what did you use?
Your truck looks great.

I got it probably 6 months ago off their website. I'm not sure where else you'd get it.

That rubber seal in between the fender and fender flare is factory, you can buy them new from the dealer.

Yea I figured the site was the only place. I will keep my eye on them when they come back in stock.

Ok I will see how much those run. I was wanting to out something in between my flares, was planning on checking out home Depot or similar to try and find some thin window weatherstripping or something. Thanks.

Made some good progress tonight. Boy are valve covers tedious, but I got them knocked out.

Ran into a small setback. Ripped one of the spark plug grommets putting the passenger side valve cover on. I think I nicked it on the trans dipstick. Oh well. Ran to autozone and picked up new valve covers. Going to take the old set back and return it under warranty hopefully.

Tomorrow evening is charger day [emoji1303]

Ran into an even bigger issue than last night. Went to go bolt the dynamic tensioner bracket on and there is literally no threads for the bottom bolt to go in to. Tried a tap and die, but with almost no room to get good pressure for a tap, that didn't work. It's too rusted out on the block for the tap to catch at the beginning of the block. Only other option I see is helicoil it.

Anyone else have any insight?

I see your valve covers are as corroded as mine. I played hell pulling the stupid PCV grommet out. (And all its pieces down in the baffle)

When you say dynamic tensioner you are refering to the timing belt tensioner?

I replaced my PCV awhile back. A little brittle but nothing major.

I'm referring the to dynamic tensioner for the trd supercharger

Whew, that was a massive pain in the ass. Had to helicoil the lower mount. Got it in after some drilling and tapping. Bracket is nice and snug now. Tensioner torqued down in preparation to finish the install tomorrow. Smooth sailing from here.

She's alive!

Running like a top. No vacuum leaks, no CEL, and making good power. Can't wait to burn through some premium fuel. Gonna be hard to stay off the right pedal.
