not a rattle but a creak

After enduring many months of what I thought was an annoying rattle from my right rear door I finally did some investigating (having preiously just turned up the stereo) and discovered it was not a rattle at all but a creaking noise created by the plastic trim covering the door seal on the body.

Seems that this trim on the body was sorta sticking, so every time the body flexed it let out a creak as it moved. Combine the creaking from many parts of the seal around the door and it sounds like a bad rattle.

So now I will try various lubes to fix the problem, rubbing them under the strip of plastic so when it moves it no longer sticks. Just wanted to give anyone else who's potentially suffering a heads up.

Funnily enough, the same thing happened on my old Jeep and I had to keep the door seals lubed at all times. Must by the dry California sun.

I think I know what and where you mean but can you take a pic of the area to clarify?
If it's the door seal itself then spray on silicone works to keep it pliable (works for us in the cold so the door and window seals don't freeze and stick.)

OH man...I think I have this too. But its on the driver door...I have a creak that sounds like its coming from where the dashboard meets the driver door right ahead of the top driver door speaker. Sound like the same problem? Do I spray silicone right on the door? I was thinking of taping like a cloth right on that part so it doesn't squek, but...that sounds ghetto. I'd rather do silicone.
