And you're positive it was the pin 12 wire at the drl module under the dash you snipped?

The wire is actually a yellow wire with a black stripe.

The previous owner installed some foglights and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it.

It may have something to do with it.

I've never heard of someone snipping the blk/yel pin 12 wire on an '01 and that NOT disable the drls. Wish I knew what else is keeping them turned on...

Pretty sure it's supposed to be black with yellow stripe. Look to see if you still have a blk/yel intact on your DRL module connector.

Alright, I finally had time to check again. It turns out i'm re****ed. The wire I originally cut was yellow w/ a blk stripe.

Went out again and found the correct one. I cut the blk wire with yellow stripe. DRLs are off.

Now the question is what did I originally snip? Nothing seems to be out of the ordinary.

Well, here's the wiring diagram: Headlight (W/ Daytime Running Light)

That's a subset of this page: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1996/SIL/fsm/wiring.html

Yellow w. black stripe (Y-B) comes off pin 4 of the DRL connector and goes to the coil control of the dimmer relay.

Are you able to turn your high beams on?

Interesting, so the dimmer relay controls the high beams? Is that some kind of Zen riddle?

It's not the dimmer for the interior lights or anything, that's just what it's called in the wiring diagram and is controlled by pulling the left stalk back towards you. It connects 12V to either the low beams or high beams, depending on the state of the Y/B wire (pin 4). Apparently if you cut it, the failure state is low beams only.

I Know I know....not again.

I have a 1999 SR5 (it is in miles, so came from USA - I live in Canada). The Grey Connector is not near the fender/battery location. These threads are getting old, so the yotatech forums no longer have pictures. Where is the DRL module under the dash? What does it look like?

Pics?

Thanks!
