Not liking my Alpine ilx650

so I put an Alpine Ilx 650 in my 4runner when i got it. Loved alpine years ago had 2 of their decks but this one is ehh. Having issues where the bluetooth wont connect when I get in and I have to select it from my menu which is a pain when im driving and unsafe.

Also if plugged into android auto the calls are bad quality.. oh and no one can hear me on bluetooth. It was fine for a few months but now nothing.

Maybe there is an update or something and I should look into it but If i decide to swap it out what's the other recommendations out there?

Im gonna be putting a backup camera in my moms jeep soon so If I do decide im sick of this alpine I can just put it in hers since she just needs the camera and radio nothing else.

Hey Monty,

I have that same head unit and had that same issue. Try updating firmware and software from phone and head unit as that helped me with the static calls. Hope that helps

I have a Pioneer-z110bt head unit if you were interested in buying an used one? No issues with it - including Bluetooth connectivity. The only problem is that it does not tilt outward where you can insert CD's etc unless the shop installed it wrong.

I drive a '18 Limited now so I had the shop take out the old head unit before trading in the '04 with stock radio to get the maximum $ possible. I kept the Pioneer backup camera for the backup '07 Sport, though so it'd just be the head-unit by itself.

Happy to take pictures or address any of your questions if you're interested in it. It's just sitting collecting dust right now in my closet, lol.

Not happy with mine either. One half of the RCA outputs are DOA right out the box. Works fine I guess if you ONLY need CarPlay, but I need the head unit to do a bit more and it’s woefully failing to deliver.

Yes Samsung Note 10plus. New issue now is it will connect but only for calls.

Great.. I didn't even get to hooking up an amp yet that's gonna be a spring project I would be very ticked off if I get there and they don't work.

I’m using a Rockford fosgate DSP so luckily it can take high level and low level inputs. When I discovered that the RCAs were toast, I just reworked it to take speaker level right out of the head unit.

So even though I’m having success using the speaker level outputs, I’ve got some terrible ground loop noise that I can’t get rid of. Might be related to the bad RCAs. One day I’m gonna swap the old head unit (older pioneer) back in just to see if it’s the alpine causing the ground noise.
