NOT Maxtrac Lift Spindles

I made an impulse buy and ordered them... dunno what I was thinking, should have just got the Maxtrac spindles but it's done now soooo. I'm guessing the only thing I'm worried about are the SS brake lines that come with it. The spindles themselves seem alright quality wise. They have decent bolt threads, geometry seems alright and what not.

Also, I'm wondering if the Maxtrac spindles are just as heavy? These things are ridiculous. It kinda caught me off guard when I picked up the package.

Let me know what you think? Should I just install them, get new brake lines, or say screw it and return them...

I can get pics if anyone whats to see them.

You should check the tacoma forums. They have more people with lift spindles and long travel set ups. i picked maxtrac because they had different part number for fj/4runner vs tacoma. the brakelines should be dot approved and you don't have to worry that much. if you do keep them or the maxtrac you should paint them or coat them because cast always rust.

they look very similar to the maxtracs. could just be a duplicate minus the logo and such. but yes the weight of the maxtracs are very f@#$in heavy

those look identical to MaxTracs, could be just no label MT Spindles. i wouldnt worry.

I'll definitely give them a spray before I put them on. Should I prime or just a good coat or two of rust-oleum?

They do look exactly like the MT spindles and I figured it would be kinda hard to f*#k up spindles, besides the mounting points being totally wrong. I'll give them a try, post a couple pictures and give my two cents. Could be a decent alternative to MT spindles.

I plan on keeping my rear 5100's, replacing my FJ coil with a 2" coil and possibly a 1.5" spacer. Should I go ahead and order an extended brake lines for the rear? If so, anyone have any suggestions?

BTW Ryan - jealous of that bumper... Modeling mine in CAD before I start to fab one up. I wanna get an idea of angles and what not. How far does that bottom horizontal bar go towards the outside of the front bumper cover?

i know big list of guys who use ebay lift spindles on their full size chevy trucks with zero issue.

Id just shoot a good coat of rustoleum to be safe. Most likely it wouldnt need anything though.

Whenever I saw used cast lift spindles they were rusted and that's here in ca. It won't hurt it at all and Tacoma world recommends it. I painted mine silver along with my Lr uca which was also rusting with only occasional off reading.

Yeah definitely going to be painting. They do have some raw machined areas on them just like the MT.

Ryan - thanks for the pic. I really like that idea. I'm thinking about having the top horizontal bar coming out to the front of the bumper possibly to hold a few lights.

I'm guessing it fastens to the skid plate mounts on the bottom and to the front of the frame rails.

here is mine , i just degreased the maching oil and primed and painted . i used a caliper paint only because its silver and didnt want it to yellow.

The big one was I needed a 24mm combo wrench. I got it at Home Depot for $6 because one of the lca mount won't fit a socket. You have to bend the crap out of the spindle brake line mount to get it right. Just cut the tabs for the wheel sensor wire on that same bracket beforehand. It interferes with the swaybar and will be near the brakeline.

Yeah, I had 5100 at the top setting then lowered it to bottom and it rides so much better. The extra travel makes it so much smoother. I got a baby now and it helped me decide to get them. My wife even felt the difference and liked it.

@BHary did you ever install the spindles? If so, what are you floor to mid wheel well measurements? I am thinking about picking up a pair.

Not exactly sure about that measurement off the top of my head but I'll try and get something after work today. I recommend the spindles but the front extended SS brake lines that came with the knockoff pair I got didn't fit. Good thing I had a full set of +4" front and back from Slee Offroad that I used instead.

It was something with the depth of the fitting that kept it from threading in. The threads themselves looked right but the fitting wasn't correct.

I recommend getting the full set if your going above 3-4" front and rear.

Here's a pic with the spindles and a set of extended length Icon 2.5 remote reservoirs on it (set to Icon preset height).

I didn't exactly follow the directions (because there weren't any) when I was routing the brake lines but they work fine at full lock.
