Well, originally I only signed up on here because I was working on my commander's 4Runner (I'm in the Air Force) and I needed to research some stuff to fix his. My girlfriend has always wanted a Runner, I've always kinda liked them anyway, and since I've been messing around with the commander's and a friend down the street taking me offroading in his, I've decided to take the plunge haha. Actually, the post on this board about the one for sale in Portland got me wanting one. I really wanted that one but it sold before I could get it. I've been looking since then and I've found several but they're always snatched up before I can even look at it.
Basically I've been looking for a 99 or 2000 (I like the interior better than the 96-98 because of the placement of the cupholders and the extra 12v outlets in the console, picky I know) and I don't want the 01-02 because I want the rear locking diff instead of the center locking diff. So that really narrowed my search. But I found a couple decent deals and I'm going to look at them on Monday, and I'm fairly certain I'll be coming home with one.
Anyway, like I said, I'm in the AF, I'm an E-6, been in 14 years as of June and I've been an Aerospace Ground Equipment mechanic the whole time. I'm currently stationed at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs working for Space Command (which is kinda weird because what I'm doing now is NOTHING like my job) but I absolutely love it here, and I've been stationed at Nellis in Las Vegas, Kadena in Okinawa and Pope in Fayetteville, NC (that place sucked the worst).
Anyway, long intro, but that's the scoop.
I also have a question about limited slip diff and if they ever offered it in the 99 or 2000, but I'll post about that and the issues with my commander's runner in the appropriate forums. Thanks!
