November 2010 Death Valley Trip

Here is my post from Toyota120 and our weekend trip to Death Valley

Well I had a great time in DV this weekend. Having so many guys with HAM setups felt like it really helped communication as well as just getting to know each other, I believe everyone but two or three guys had one.

It was a fun trip and we got to see a lot of great scenery/mines etc… I wish I had made it out for Friday as well, but it was just too hard to get away from work that early, especially with three other coworkers. Also, on that same note- four big guys in a truck with full camping gear and food is quite the adventure to pack, I am shocked I didn’t hit my rear bump stops much at all!

The weather was sure interesting, Jon and I were a tad bit nervous as we watched lightning storms and darkness approach as we explored one last trail, didn’t help that our trucks are covered in metal antennas. We got an interesting and very cold rain/hail storm that lasted most the night. Thankfully I beat it by about one minute when I was setting my tent up

Anyway, here are some of my pictures. I had 300 on my camera alone and two of the other guys in my truck had their own so there will be many to post. I tried to limit it to 80 or so for this though.

damn...wish i lived out west...I was lucky enough to live in western montana for a spell in the 90's but had to move back to PA for work. There is no good off-roading like that here.

Kicker is that I was born in Fontana, CA. My parents did alot of camping Death Valley and the Sierra Nevadas with me, but moved to PA when I was 3.

Thanks guys! I love it out in Death Valley. Great place to just get away and relax. I also am about to post up a bunch of pictures from Big Bear this past weekend.

Yeah, I am very lucky to live where I do. Unfortunately, work will likely take me somewhere else in the near future, hopefully there will still be good wheeling!
