TRD Pro vs Limited
The only thing I like about the Limited is the leather seats and the stereo upgrade. The valance all around the vehicle is lower by a couple of inches which reduces ground clearance. If you want to add rock sliders to protect the door panels and rocker panels you have to cut off that valance on the sides. If you want to lift it the best option is a spacer on top of the front coils over shocks and over the rear springs. If you want to lift it with better shocks for off road you'll need to start by removing that expensive Xreas suspension. If you ever go off road in the desert or mountains around So Cal, you'll want more clearance and rock sliders.
All the 4Runners have the same low front end and sloped frame, or rake. It's done so you can fill the back with cargo and still have a level vehicle. The T4R has one of the largest cargo areas of all SUVs.
The TRD off-road is off road capable as sold and can be easily upgraded with rock sliders and suspension lift. Yes, the TRD Pro is sold for a high price. When I was looking in 2015 they all had accessories I didn't want piled on to make it more expensive. I bought the Trail Edition, ordering one without any accessories, sun roof, sliding cargo deck, etc.
If you buy the Limited consider buying my 2015 Trail Edition rims and tires with 25k miles. The TE rims are 17x7.5", which is wider than the TRD 7" wheels, so it's able to handle a wider tire, like the 275/70R17. Those are also a bit taller than stock.
If you never plan to drive the vehicle off road then by all means, get the Limited and enjoy the leather seats, chrome trim and enhanced stereo. Oh yea, you need the 3rd row seat. That limits the options. If the 3rd row is for adults you should try sitting in that 3rd row before you buy one. The foot room is small.
I just bought 17x8.5 rims and mounted LT285/70R17 on my trail edition. To fit those tires in the wheel wells, I'm also upgrading the shocks with a 2" suspension lift using ICON shocks.
