Nuvi 250W GPS Custom Dash Mount

I was debating on getting the nav that integrated with my Alpine IVA-W200. But, I really needed a portable unit that I could also use in my wife

Thanks!. The pictures do not do it justice. I thought covering the grill with grill cloth would make it too tight but it is a very snug fit. It turned out much better than expected

Great job! I have been dragging my feet forever in getting a nav - going back and forth between in-dash or on-dash. Looking at yours I may look to go on-dash instead. Thanks for the photos.

... So, I bought an additional mount ...

Do you have a part number for the extra mount?

I do not have the part number but it I picked it up from Best Buy for $16. The cool thing is that the mount fits in the circle of the center channel speaker. But I had to put a piece of 3/16 ABS plastic underneath the mount. That lifted it up just enough for the GPS bracket to clear the grill frame.

What wires in the center counsel did you tap into for the 12v plug. I couldnt quite tell from your pic. i assume you just bought a cheep 12v socket to use. Very nice install!

I did use a female end of a cig lighter from radio shack and tied the power into the factory 12v power sullpy in the console. I was able to fish the wire down from the center speaker vie the glove box and just ran it down to the center console. That way the power supply is switched 12v and allows the GPS to turn off with the key.

So you had to cut a hole in your dash ?

I did not have to cut a hole in the dash, only in the grill of the center channel. That was no easy feat. the grill cloth over the gril trims it out nicly. I did have to sacrfice the grill and speaker plate for the center channel. It is only $40 to replace both.

Anyone know if on a 6 speaker system there is a metal cutout underneath the dash panel to cut in a speaker? I'm talking specifically where the center speaker is for the 10 speaker system.

Would be a good place to put a speaker for a Parrot Bluetooth kit!
