o/d light

I have a 91 toyota 4 runner and i was diving for about 2.h hr and my O/D light was flashing on and off. it was about 2 seconds between flash and any where from 1 to 12 flashs. I also noticed just before i left for my drive that it felt like i did not grab when i pressed on the gas. That only happend once or twice.. I also have bin having trouble with my dash lights the come on and off when they want I am pretty sure that it is a short but how do i go about finding the short... Help....... Any input would be sweet.....
