O2 Sensor Replacement

Is this a simple job even I could do? Ive just been told that the O2 was never replaced on my car and that it will be almost $300 bucks for a newy, plus labour.
Just wondering if its an easy fix?
I like pulling stuff apart and fixing it myself if I can, seems like something I could handle.

Plus I'm wondering if 300 is an accurate quote for a new sensor - seems a bit much.

Would you recommend a Toyota Genuine part or a cheaper generic one? Ive heard the cheaper ones are not as good. Anyone care to share their experiences?

You can get an oem Desno sensor online for $65-75.
It's something most people can do if they have the tools, etc.

Its the one that comes up on most parts sites. My problem is I am in Canada and 90% of them dont ship to Canada.

Auto parts Canada is out of them and say they will be another 2-3 weeks.

Rockauto is the only one ive found that will ship to canada. The part costs $93 and shipping was $26. :S

Its still cheaper than the $215 Napa and Lordco are wanting to charge for an NGK one. Lucky the exchange rate is fairly good at the moment.

Go with the Denso, the NGK O2 sensors are known to be flaky.

Just don't get a Bosch, they don't seem to work well in Toyotas.

I need an o2 for my 88 22re I was quoted $132 from Advance auto for a Denso...

Heh, I was reading another thread that said to replace the O2 sensor every 60-60k miles. My trucks got 243k on the clock and was told that its the original O2 sensor in there.

The part number, NP2344052, is a Denso OE pre CAT oxygen sensor.

Im pretty sure its the right one.
