Observation after Oil change

Hey all, got a question for group... I have an 04' SR5 V6 runner and did an oil change a while back... Well, when you take the filter off their is a little oil that spills out and pools up in the oil shield thingy. I wiped it down and after replaced the oil filter with one I bought from the stealership. Well, miles and miles later when i was wiping down the engine bay after washing I noticed the same little pool of oil at the base of the sheild... I assume this isn't normal but had to ask... The filter is tight (hand tight) and I've already wiped it once before so this would be the second time. Any suggestions? thanks

I've noticed this too. I just assumed it was normal. I make it a habit of cleaning up my engine bay everytime I wash my car, so it's pretty noticeable. It's never much, so I'm not too worried about it.

I have noticed a small pool there before. I just wipe it up and keep an eye on it. Just a very small seep at the seal of the oil filter. I'm not loosing any sleep over it!

Cool thanks... As long as I know I'm not alone then I don't care too much. I just started to think that the filter wasn't on tight enough but I've always followed the rule of thumb of only being "hand" tight. Maybe if i tighten it down like the stealership did the first time so there are no leaks it would go away, but... If I can recall, it wasn't fun trying to loosen that darn filter even with my kung fu grip!

Give it a 1/4 turn and check, if it still happens give it a last 1/4 turn.
