OBX headers for3.4l likes or gripes

I just order OBX headers for my 01 limited and I was wondering if anyone else has them and if they like them or hate them, I wanted Doug Thorley but didnt feel like paying $700 for a set of headers. Any input on them would be awesome but please don't tell me to look at other threads cause I have looked this is just asking if you have them or know a friend who does and whats the thoughts on them. :thanks:

I always see these on Ebay as well. They are always listed for 99-02 but never for the 96-98. Is there a difference? Same motor no?

I don't want to be the party pooper, but i've only heard bad things about these headers. The few people that have actually bought them have either resold them, or had to bring them into a shop to have them refabricate a few of the bends/welds so that it would fit right. In the end, it would've costed them just as much to shell out for a set of TRD or Doug Thorley headers that are pretty much a guaranteed bolt on set.

Coming from the import scene before the 4runner, I'd say I would never buy anything from OBX, just cheap garbage from what I've heard. You get what you pay for. .02

I have a set of Downey Headers - I got them right after they went out of business. They are supposed to be pretty good quality & I am generally pretty happy.

I think with headers the performance gain is 75% in the drivers head.

Yeah I have heard mixed reviews from good to bad but majority bad I may get them and see how I feel about them once I get my hands on them. I would love to have some Doug Thorleys but they are so dang expensive and I even looked on EBAY and no such luck. Im pulling my whole engine and trans. out to help with the install so hopefully they will bolt on directly if I decide to keep them.


4runner1-- I wish I could answer that ? for you but I never noticed that I have only seen 99-02 I dont see why it wouldnt fit we have the same engine. You should maybe make a thread on that b/c I would def. like to know.


For everyone else who put their input in on this thanks, I always like getting feedback from fellow t4rs. I guess its down to how I feel when I get em.
