OBX in July - Any Good Spots?

Hey all, been going down to OBX for 30+ years and taking my 4Runner this year. Already got my ORV permit for the week so I'm curious as to any secret spots that would be cool take the truck to. We are staying in Waves but I'm very familiar with everything from the Oregon Inlet down to Ocracoke.

Anything else to consider re: beach driving?

Kitty Hawk was great before it got closed down. I miss living there (was there in 06 and 07).
