OCD guide to parking!

How many of you still park away from other people and/or at what point did you stop caring and start looking for the spot nearest the location you were visiting?

I typically park a mile away and and in a dead end spot so that I decrease the odds of smacks and dings at least on one side. The one time I parked my last vehicle closer it resulted in a nasty door dent (more of a wave.crease in the metal than an actual dent).

Even when the lady is *****ing about the walk in which case I drop her off first. :laugh:

Just curious how many other OCD parkers there are out there.

Just yesterday I parked in a very obscure area of the parking garage only to have a white camry snug up against me as if there were no other spots left. I plan on leaving a note next time.

Get some sliders with kick outs. They'll hit the sliders with their doors and not your rig.
 
I'm generally ok with them if I am the one that put them there although I do kick myself in the a$$ when I do.. but I am not at all cool with lazy careless people putting them there because they have no respect for the property of others. That is what burns me.

I always park far away- I don't mind the walk.

I have plenty of dents and scratches, but I caused most of them offroad so they don't bother me much.

What bothers me is when some self-centered uncaring person dents/scratches my truck because they just don't care. Parking far away helps me from teaching them a lesson...:smash:

Also I park wherever there is a space, far away or close up it does not matter. First one I see. BTW they make meds for OCD. You should take them.

I like the open spaces myself and enjoy the walk. But I haven't had much trouble with it with this one. Maybe the sliders and those Grog side loops on the CBI bumper give potential thumpers pause? But I'm also OCD enough I try to center it exactly in a given space, and have been known to snuggle right up to the driver's door of vehicles whose peckerwood drivers can't seem to color within the lines. If they're doing it in the far out wide open spaces I'm fine with it. But the ones who just whip it into a space up closer and walk away without a care really push my buttons.
 
I never really cared about dings and such, even on my new Tundra but i like parking far away because im fat and i have been forcing myself to expend more energy throughout the day.
 
My 1st gen 4Runner used to get dented front, rear, and side when I street parked near the college in my town. Tube front bumper with a stinger + tube rear bumper w/receiver hitch + kickout sliders and suddenly I started finding shattered car parts (usually head/tail lights) in the street next to my truck from where people had hit it and done more damage to their cars than mine.
 
I don't really care too much about door dings, because it's just going to get scratched up and stuff when I'm off road. So I park wherever I want, which is usually as close as I can get. :)

Funny thing is, the one dent that does bug me is one I did myself when I had less than 100 miles on it. I was dropping off some mail at the drive-through boxes at the post office. One envelope fell on the ground, and as I was getting out to pick it up, I bumped the door and it hit the corner of the mail slot. So it's got this small dent right on the upper part of the driver's door, where I have to see it every time I get into the car.
 
I park where ever, usually as close as I can get. No scratches/dents (yet)

I'm only OCD in so far as I always back in and perfectly center myself in my spot. (Won't repark should I miss center, but...)
 
Not sure what part of this is OCD. Sounds like dictionary.reference.com should be in order. It's preference, not OCD.

I do. I also have a whistle and a reflective PT belt, I don't know why.

Just a note, if you repurpose tall road cones in the back of your pickup truck, put the bases towards the rear of the pickup. If you come to a stop at a stop light quickly they'll all stand up if you don't. Invariably, there will be a police officer behind you. If he asks any questions, just tell him you're in construction. That usually works.. usually.

Also, [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION], how do the ocd medications make you feel? I'd like to try them sometime!

I know dents, scrapes and road rash doesn't bother some but it does bother me but I was raised that way. We'd keep vehicles in our family for 20+ years and they would look brand new (while being highly used) so that's how I typically feel about my cars.

I should try meds, police tape AND cones. :)
