Just a note, if you repurpose tall road cones in the back of your pickup truck, put the bases towards the rear of the pickup. If you come to a stop at a stop light quickly they'll all stand up if you don't. Invariably, there will be a police officer behind you. If he asks any questions, just tell him you're in construction. That usually works.. usually.

I use the liquid form in 12 Oz cans or bottles.
 
Been doing it for 11 years. Don't mind the walk. Same at work. It is a good feeling coming back to the 4Runner with no one parked next to you. Also, if parking lot is somewhat crowded, I try to find a corner spot.

Will do the same after if I can convince myself to sell my 4th gen and get a 5th gen.

Some parking guidelines that I do,

I park in BFE, except if there's a very wide space up close at the end of the row but only if it's not by any sprinklers or under trees. Either way I look for wide, end of the row spots, not close to sprinklers, preferably not under trees or next to anyone else. I try not to park near high foot traffic areas even if the spot is good. Also, I won't park next to open trash dumpsters or by pickup trucks that have trash in the bed. I prefer covered parking but only if there are no pigeons under the cover. I also like to back in or pull through so I can drive straight out. Before leaving, I like to walk all the way around it to make sure nothing was tampered with.

So yeah, I'm a little space picky but I get some good walks out of it. This has also rubbed off on my wife.
 
I take the closest or the most convenient spot I can get...

I dont care about dings or dents... if I did I wouldn't have like 100+ vehicle long "racing pinstripes" on each side of my car from brush off-road...

That said, I prefer to earn my scares, not have them given to me. So, sliders help with those jokers in parking lots too.
 
Sliders won't protect from the rear door of a sedan.

I just park far enough away to discourage lazy people from parking next to me.
I like to generalize lazy and careless people together.
 
I did this the other day. Parked in the BFE section of the Target parking deck normally reserved for questionable vans and those likes. There were at least 100 free parking spots closer to the door. Even picked a section where the lighting was poor and still some assclown snugged up right against me. It was too obvious.
