Looks like you did a great job! I was gonna wax my door jambs too a while ago, but I got lazy as it would probably take too long. lol. But your 4Runner really does look mint. Looks like you just brought it home brand new from the lot.
I hear ya! I have a separate chamois for the door jambs and get them every wash so no build up of dirt. They were already clean, just put the wax on for some protection. My BMW is black and it gets waxed like every 2 weeks. I swore NEVER again a black vehicle and then I saw the BMW's replacement in black....2011 5.0L GT Premium. It just looks right in black so looks like I will be dumb enough to buy another black car.

That's actually what I do to my car. 2 different chamois, Clean microfibers, clean sponge for wax etc....
When I was looking for my Runner I found a black one and almost bought it but decided not to due to the fact that I already have a black car and the size of the Runner vs Accord trying to keep it clean.
For a car I will always buy black. It's just a timeless color in my eyes. Sorta like White, Red, Silver.

Not OCD at all. My last three cars have all been black. I have always said I will drive a black car till i die......that was before having twins 3 years ago. I went from a wash once or twice a week, a quick 3 hour wax twice a month and a two day Claying, Polishing and waxing every other month to taking my truck through a brushless car wash every couple of weeks. I get to hand wash it every once in a while, but not very often........they just turned three last month.....it hasn't been waxed since before they were born.....

Yea, the older I get, the less i feel like waxing a vehicle weekly like I used to. The Desert Dune is the perfect color. Looks great all waxed up and you really cant even tell when its dusty or dirty!!
