Just called Hungry Valley District office. I was told the parking lot at the North Entrance Visitor Center is a good spot to meet and when we come in we'll get a better map than what's online. Apparently it will tell us trail difficulty ratings and classifies trails as 2/4wd or bike trails.

In response to your staging directions, that lot is perfect. There's a little booth there with some rangers and the lot entrance is right before that. We can all meet there then head in.
 
Count me in for this. Would be nice to meet some 4runner guys. You could also meet on the south side of the park right off the smoky bear exit(195). I'm guessing most are coming from the south on the 5 so that would closer then driving the whole way around to the north entrance. There is a big open dirt lot right off the exit that I've met up w ppl there before. I would post up coordinates but I'm on my phone have no idea how to do that.

Is there an office or anything we could grab maps from for trail difficulty?

Seeing threads like these makes me miss socal. I'll have to hit up hollister hills once, while im up here. You guys have fun! Ill catch you all in Dec.

I've been there once before and it was almost a yr ago. From what I remember I didn't find anything a stock 2x couldn't do. I do remember they hand out maps at the gate if you asked them. I don't have a problem leading but like i said I've been there once before.

Thanks! that's at the South gate entrance?

I'm fine meeting up at either location. Anyone have objections to the South entrance? Or do people prefer the North/main?

Yea these were at the south gate, but they should have those maps at both as its a state park. And I don't think its that far from either entrance. I think it was about 10mins from both exits off the interstate to the entrances as i drove by today. I'll let you make the call as its your meet.

And im not sure where that 4x test area is but guessing by the map we could head into the park straight there, as it looks like its right off the main road.
