Odd ABS Light Issues with Hopkins 4runner trailer wiring kit

99 SR5 and I just went through the brakes and truck and no issues at all. I am in the middle of changing out the trailer wiring kit to the Hopkins Hopkins 4runner trailer wiring kit on the passenger side. I have disconnected everything waiting on Amazon to deliver the wiring kit and out of the blue, the ABS light came on despite having done a total brake job maybe 500 miles ago. Truck has 212K on the clock so either this is coincidental or it is related since all of the wiring is currently disconnected and the ABS light just came on out of the blue today. Thoughts ?

Weird as hell, I put my new wires in for my trailer lights and the error disappeared totally.

Thanks and the new Hopkins adapter is an issue. Simple to install and ya can't screw up the connections but the drivers side trailer lights don't work, passenger lights work fine so not sure what to do. Connections are solid and in drilled into the frame for a good ground.

Have you checked with a different trailer or checked the trailer with a different vehicle?

Negative I know for a fact the lights on the trailer are solid and if the replacement has issues I’ll double check the trailer ground and all the connections are clean plug to plug I cleaned the trailer plug. I will use my neighbors truck next week if I still have issues.

I'd really recommend checking the trailer with a different vehicle or the vehicle with a different trailer. I deal with trailer issues fairly often at work and 90 percent of the time it's the trailer not the truck.

Some controllers don't work entirely with LED trailer lights. Sometimes it's both lights, and sometimes it's one circuit. Not really a rhyme or reason from the controller manufacturer, but I think it has to do with the lower resistance of LED lights.

EDIT: It's a lot easier for me to check the trailer or the vehicle than it is to replace components.

Thanks I used the trailer with my 2010 Highlander a few months ago and no issues at all. I’m going to install the replacement Monday. If I still have issues I’ll check the ground on the trailer. I can see one plug being bad but not two. Electrical issues suck lol.

I live in a trailer ticket writing county. MPD be profiling, Ha, trailers you get at big box stores Lowes HD small indy sales. Crappie electrical.
